Recap and Looking Forward...

Thanks for everyone that showed up this week, the discussion was FANTASTIC and I am really excited to see where we can run with this. On that note, we are taking a bit of a break for the holidays and will be coming back in the new year (tentatively Jan 6th)

We will be posting a poll of some of the films that people have suggested for our next selection. Feel free to vote for your fave or make a suggestion in the comments section. Keep in mind (as was brought up this evening) that they don't have to be serious documentaries, so films like Anvil, F*CK, etc are all great as well!

Second Selection: Food Inc

Mike and I are pleased to announce our 2nd selection for Doc Op. We will be discussing Robert Kenner's film Food Inc on Tuesday, December 15th at 7:30pm. Sharkwater Discussion

First Doc - SHARKWATER

Hey Hey!

Sorry for the delay but it's time to get this up and running, and the first documentary that we will be screening will be the film SHARKWATER. It's a 2006 piece that is frequently available for rental at major movie stores and can be found online for downloading as well. If there are any difficulties surrounding getting your hands on this movie send an email and let me know.

The discussion will take place on Wednesday, November 25th at 7:30pm so make sure to report back here then and we'll have our live online discussion.

I have one more thing to add to Mike's post.  Whether you are interested in joining or not (hopefully yes!), we are more than happy to accept suggestions for films.  We are already compiling a list, but you never know what we may have left out!

This blog was created out of a love for the documentary film style. And as such, it will be a discussion board for just that - documentary films!

Think book club but substitute the word "book" for "documentary film"....there really is no clearer way to describe what will transpire on this blog so hopefully we're all on the same page now.

The documentary film will be selected in advance, a film that can be accessed for all members interested in joining this documentary club, and then it will be discussed on here at a set date and time.

The discussion will be recorded and kept on the blog so that people can go back and read it over afterwards.
