My friend Mike and I started DocOp as a book-club style discussion forum for documentaries in the Fall of 2009, but quickly found that our live text-chat format got very noisy with more than a few people. Furthermore, when we had people tuning in from all corners of the world, people got really passionate about the issues but didn't know how to take action.

So, we've rebuilt and launched DocOp into a social network format. Our #1 goal is to turn that inspiration into action by pairing documentaries with organizations looking for volunteers and support. We are doing this by hosting virtual screenings of important films, followed by live discussions hosted by NGO representatives, people who worked on the film, or both! We have also integrated LiveTV (see below), groups, forums, everything we need to connect people, ideas, and films.
